Matt has been making music for as long as he can remember. He picked up the trumpet around the age of five before eventually finding his place behind a drum kit, where precision, creativity, and energy all came together. Growing up near Detroit exposed him to a rich musical history, while artists like Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, Rush, and Steve Morse helped shape the technical yet expressive approach he brings to every performance.

For Matt, being a musician has never been about chasing the spotlight. It's about creating something meaningful with people he genuinely enjoys being around. Every opportunity to step onto a stage is something he considers a privilege, and he approaches each performance with gratitude for the chance to share music with others.

After meeting Jessie through karaoke, Matt joined the band in its early days, helping shape the direction that would eventually become Velkro.

Offstage, Matt is one of the band's driving forces. Working alongside Jett, they help coordinate rehearsals, tackle the business side of the band, and turn big ideas into realistic plans together. His analytical mindset and steady approach help keep Velkro focused on the future as much as the next performance.

That dedication comes with a challenge. Matt admits he invests so much of himself into every aspect of the band that burnout is something he has to actively manage. Even so, he believes success comes from discipline, hard work, and sacrifice—not shortcuts. It's a philosophy that has guided him throughout his career and continues to shape Velkro's future.

To Matt, Velkro is more than a band. It's a group of friends working toward a shared dream, supporting one another through the highs and lows while creating music they're proud to call their own. That's what keeps him coming back behind the kit every rehearsal and every show.
